Food fraud in the guise of meat substitution in takeaways continues to attract media interest. A recent episode of Rip off Britain: Food included footage of Trainee Public Analyst Donna Hanks of Worcestershire Scientific Services and West Yorkshire Public Analyst Dr Duncan Campbell. The programme had taken five lamb curries bought in Bradford to Worcester for DNA analysis. Two turned out to be beef. A formal sample taken from one of the takeaways which had twice supplied beef to the BBC by West Yorkshire Trading Standards was found to be beef following analysis in Leeds.
The program (Series 4 Episode 6) is available on iPlayer.
